…and she quilts

My mom is such an awesome person.  She works a full-time job as a bookkeeper, she works another full-time job as a Christian bookstore owner, she goes to college, she has lunch with her daughter every week…and she quilts!

This is a picture of the Christmas table runner she quilted for me.  Not only did I receive one, so did her sisters, her mom, her nieces, and her employees at her store.  Each table runner is different, and sorry ladies, but mine is the best!

Thanks Mom!  You are awesome and I love you!

Bible Covers

Here are some pics of my latest project. A reversible bible cover I made for my friend/co-worker, Chris. It was a fun project because I was able to use my Cricut to make the flowers. Here is side #1:

And here are bible covers I made for Chris to give her daughters, Sarinna & Morgan, for Christmas.

Go Colts!

Fellow quilter and friend, Cheryl, created this AWESOME Colts quilt.  I L.O.V.E. it!

Marilyn did the quilting for Cheryl. The finished project is very cool.

And again, Go Colts!

Summer Breeze

This quilt was a work in progress for several months before I finally finished it.  It was my first attempt at free motion quilting on something bigger than a burp cloth.

I had so much fun selecting the fabric.  Marilyn and I went to the Pajama Sale in Shipshewana last February and found this fabric at Yoder’s.  What a great find.  I just love the reproduction fabric.

This quilt now has a home in Kaylee’s teacher’s house.  Mrs. Eltzroth is having a baby this month and the quilt was Kaylee’s Christmas gift to her teacher.

Kari’s Quilt

My cousin Kari joined our little quilting group this past fall.  The project at the time was “Tumbling Through the Stars”. Kari made the cutest baby quilt with green, pink and lavender.

Here are the pics of her completed project.  Very cute!

Kari did an awesome job at both piecing and quilting.  I guess all those years of 4-H paid off.  Great job Kari!

Book Covers

So, now I'm on to my next thing...book covers. I made a cover for my 2010 calendar.

Then, I thought it would be fun to do a journal cover. Any you know, once you are in the groove, you might as well make two instead of one.

These were so fun to make. I loved using all my scraps to make the patchwork on the front of one of the journals. Oh, and thank you to Erin for inspiring the idea. She was working on a journal cover at the overnighter. She got my creative juices flowing!

Two New Projects

I'm trying my hand at making some baby gifts.

First is a quilted burp cloth. Not only was this fun to make, it also was a great way to practice my freehand machine quilting on a small project. It is simply a cloth baby diaper quilted to some cute fabric. Absorbant and fun. What more do you need out of a burp cloth...

My second project is a travel baby wipe container. A little fabric, trim, Mod Podge and hot glue and ta da!
